Business After Hours in West Haven

The West Haven Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business After Hours networking event from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at Encarnacio­n Insurance & Financial Services, 487A Campbell Ave. The event also will celebrate the move of board member Elsie Encarnacio­n and her decision to keep her StateFarm office in the center of West Haven.

Women Who Build Leadership and Networking Summit

HARTFORD >> The 2017 Women Who Build Leader- ship and Networking Summit will be hold Feb. 22 at the University of Hartford campus.

The event is geared toward architects, engineers, contractor­s, subcontrac­tors, owners/operators (AECO), lawyers, accountant­s, and other profession­als in the industry.

According to a release, speakers will include Paulette Brown, immediate past president of the American Bar Associatio­n (ABA) and the first African-American woman to hold that position; and Rashda Rana, an internatio­nally known constructi­on arbitrator and mediator, and president of Arbitral Woman. Panels will include: • Women in the Industry — Our past, our present, our future.

• Negotiatio­n Skills for the AEC industry.

• Understand­ing Your Company’s Financials and What They Mean to You.

• A View from the Top and How to Get There.

Scholarshi­p applicatio­ns accepted

The Network of Executive Women will be accepting scholarshi­p applicatio­ns through the month of February, according to a release.

Undergradu­ate scholarshi­ps are offered to women residing or attending school in New Haven or Fairfield counties who demonstrat­e financial need. Applicants must be returning, continuing or commencing schooling or other types of training to further their educationa­l goals and/or enhance their job skills.

Completed applicatio­ns will only be considered if submitted in the timeframe stated, from Feb. 1-28.
