Yale scores late, but Harvard delivers equalizer as teams skate to a draw

Ted Hart scored in the third period for the Yale men’s hockey team but Harvard tied the game later in the period as the teams played to a 1-1 draw that went to overtime in this ECAC contest Saturday in Cambridge, Massachuse­tts.

Hart’s goal came at 16:44 in the third period. Harvard’s Luke Esposito found the back of the net at 17;53.

Robbie DeMontis and Mike Doherty had assists for the Bulldogs (8-7-4, 4-5-3).

Women’s Basketball

SOUTHERN CONN. 81, FRANKLIN PIERCE 49 >> Senior Taylor McLaughlin matched a program single-game record with eight steals and scored a game-high 22 points for the Owls in this NE-10 win in New Haven.

McLaughlin also added a game-high six assists and four rebounds while hitting 9-of-15 shots from the floor. Chandler Williams had a season-high 12 points off the bench, while Maria Weselyj also reached double digits with 10 points for SCSU (8-11, 4-8). NEW HAVEN 59, SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE 41 >> Katia Oge recorded her first career doubledoub­le with 11 points and a personal-best 14 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive glass, for the Chargers in this NE-10 win in West Haven. She also had three steals and two blocks.

Khayla Trowell and Alexandria Kerr scored 11 points each for New Haven (4-13, 3-9). It marks the third game in a row that Trowell has reached double figures, a feat she hadn’t accomplish­ed in her first 54 career games. QUINNIPIAC 79, RIDER 53 >> Jen Fay scored 21 points for the Bobcats in this win in Hamden.

Vanessa Udoji and Paula Strautmane each scored 12 points for Quinnipiac (16-4, 9-1).

Men’s Basketball

NEW HAVEN 81, SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE 79 >> Freshman Kessly Felizor laid in the game-winner with six seconds remaining off a feed through the middle from junior Danny Upchurch for the Chargers in this NE-10 win in West Haven.

Felizor was one of five New Haven playes who finished in double figures as he completed his fourth double double and second over the last three games with 14 points and tied his career-high with 18 rebounds. Upchurch and freshman Elijah Bailey each chipped in 18 points for the Chargers (11-7, 6-6). SOUTHERN CONN. 86, FRANKLIN PIERCE 82 >> Michael Mallory otched his fourth career double-double with a team-high 24 points, a career-high 10 assists and five rebounds for the Owls in this NE-10 win in New Haven.

Joey Wallace tallied 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Austin Carter totaled 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for Southern Conn. (13-6, 9-3).

Women’s hockey

YALE 3, HARVARD 2>> At New Haven, Kaitlin Gately scored at 5:20 of the second period to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead and they hung on for the ECAC win. Tera Hofman had 41 saves for the Bulldogs (7-11-3, 5-8-1). Hailey Mullins and Kaitlin Tse scored for the Crimson (3-14-2, 3-9-2).
