KEEP AN EYE ON

• Tough enough?: UConn has won three games in a row, but it came against the three teams at the bottom of the AAC standings. Now, the Huskies get Cincinnati, which has won 13 in a row overall and 21 in a row at home. UConn, which could still be extremely shorthanded for the game, simply has to match the toughness of a Bearcat team known for its toughness. “We can’t let them out-tough us, starting on the rebounding,” said Jalen Adams. “We can’t let them to get offensive rebounding and allow them to get second chances, because they feed off that. We’ve got to get out there and hit them first.” Added Kevin Ollie: “Win or lose — of course we want to win — but we want to fight and give ourselves a chance. If we don’t fight, we don’t stand a chance against Cincinnati or anybody in our conference.”

• Depth, talent: The Bearcats feature some familiar faces: preseason AAC player of the year Troy Caupain, fellow all-leaguer Gary Clark and sophomore Jacob Evans III, who leads the team in scoring (14.1 ppg). They’ve also added 6-foot-9 NC State transfer Kyle Washington (13.1 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and perhaps the league’s best freshman, Jarron Cumberland, off the bench. • Big contributions?: Forwards Juwan Durham and Steve Enoch, who have missed the Huskies’ last three and four games, respectively, due to different foot injuries, participated in Friday’s light practice but will be game-time decisions. Both were sporting walking boots at the team hotel. “I’m not ruling them out, we just didn’t practice them hard,” said Ollie. “We’ll probably still go with the six guys that have been practicing hard. But if they’re available, at least it gives us somebody we can put in if there’s real bad foul trouble. “We have to understand we need these guys for the long haul, and not just the immediate future.”
