Middletown swimmers sink Bulkeley

The Middletown boys swimming and diving team defeated Bulkeley High of Hartford 95-91 to improve to 9-3.

Tim Joy led a sweep of the 200 freestyle for Middletown, with Dylan Drescher placing second and Parth Kekare third.

Middletown also swept the 500 freestyle, with Nick Luppachino winning, Terry Gaylord placing second and Matthew Lombardo third.

Sophomore Tyler Wenzel won in diving, with Mitchell Westbury placing third, and CarleighDe­France placing fourth. Nick Luppachino placed 2nd in the 200 IM.

Also winning was the 200 free relay teamof Cameron Moskey, Dylan Drescher, Chris Boller and Nick Luppachino.

BOYS BASKETBALL

MIDDLETOWN 69 NEW BRITAIN34>> DeAaron Lawrence scored 19 points. Ahmod Privott added 12 points and Jordan Council 10 for seventh-ranked Middletown, which won its 15th straight game to improve to 15-2.

Tyshaun James had 10 rebounds for the Blue Dragons. New Britain was led by Jordan Williams and JahfariNew­man, who each had eight points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

CROMWELL 74, COGINCHAUG 41 >> Jenna Serrantino had 17 points and Geanna Williams 16 to lead Cromwell to its Shoreline Conference win.

Theresa Quinn added 13 points and Ashely DellaRatta nine for Cromwell (14-3). Coginchaug (9-8) was led by Carly Lane (16 points) and Ashleigh Halligan (14 points).
