The Middletown High boys indoor track and field team placed second at the CIAC Class L state meet.

The Middletown High School boys indoor track team finished second at the CIAC Class L state indoor track and field championsh­ip meet Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center Saturday.

Hall won the title by two points, outscoring Middletown 50-48, winning the final event, the 4x400 to capture the title.

DeShaun Bradshaw won the 55 meters in 6.56 seconds, followed by teammate Garrett Dandridge in second place in 6.69 seconds. Laurenzo Thompkins won the 55 meter hurdles in 7.74 seconds. Dandridge was fourth in the 300 meters in 36.73 seconds.

Middletown’s 4x200 relay team of Middletown Bradshaw, Nico Cavaliere, Thompkins and Dandridge won the event in 1:33.49.

Middletown’s Bradshaw, Cavaliere, Thompkins and Jalen Coleman were third in the 1,600 meter relay in 3:43.86.

Girls basketball

EAST HAMPTON 34, OLD SAYBROOK 20 >> Gyanna Russell scored 24 points and Jenna DeMartino added six to lead East Hampton (16-2) Friday. Mandy Beck led Old Saybrook with six points.

Boys basketball

WESTBROOK 97 PORTLAND 67 >> Senior guard Cory Muckle led Westbrook with 32 points and Liam Bell added 28 points to lead Westbrook. Dave Amendola chipped in with 12 points.

Dianta Highsmith led Portland with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Brett Thivierge and Dyland Curtin each added eight points for Portland.

Men’s basketball

WESLEYAN 82, COLBY 67 >> Tied 33-33 at halftime, Wesleyan rallied in the second half as it cruised to a commanding win Saturday in the team’s regularsea­son finale.

For the second consecutiv­e game, four of Wesleyan’s starters scored double-figures with Harry Rafferty leading the way. The senior finished with 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting from downtown, while also dishing out six assists. Jordan Bonner finished with 15 points, O’Brien added 14 and Kuo scored 11. Jordan Sears led all players with 11 rebounds, while Kevin O’Brien grabbed six, recorded two steals and one block, and tallied a game-high eight assists. WESLEYAN 93, BOWDOIN 72 >> Senior Joseph Kuo posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and senior Harry Rafferty recorded game-highs of 19 points and seven assists as Wesleyan cruised in its NESCAC matchup at Silloway Gymnasium Friday.

Women’s basketball

BOWDOIN 58, WESLEYAN 43 >> Wesleyan trailed by just three points entering the fourth quarter against the No. 20thranked team in the country, but the Polar Bears pulled away in the final 10 minutes Friday.

Mandy Bledsoe led Wesleyan with 10 points and six rebounds.

Men’s hockey

WESLEYAN 5, BOWDOIN 3 >> Walker Harris netted three points to lead the Cardinal to their win Friday night.
