The Falcons, 20-8 last year, hope to build on their third place finish at states and 14th spot in the Northeastern Regional Tournament.

“The team is excited for the season to start and is optimistic to be a contender again this year in the state tournament,” said 10-year coach David Applegate.

The returning players are seniors Gunnar Jackson (cutter; named to USA Ultimate All-State team), and Albert Ackerson (handler/downfield receiver) and junior Brendan Rizza (handler/puller).

“There are a number of players who were on the jayvee team last year who have improved,” said Applegate. “Ben Clemmey and Ryan Ranney will likely be filling in at cutting and handling roles respectively.” to rely heavily on this talented squad once again.

“In the track events, our core of middle-distance and distance athletes should be able to cover most of the events, leaving us with very few areas of weakness. We look to capitalize on new athletes to fill some of the holes in sprinting and jumping.”

Stonier said his key returning athletes are seniors Matt Wyzykowski (shot, discus), Tom Blanchard (1600, 3200) and Dan Hettrick (800, 1600), juniors Griffin Saks (shot), Owen Lally (1600, 3200), Owen Curran (800, 1600), David Moeller (800) and sophomore Pierre Sylvain (800).

“On paper, this is the most talented team we have had in a few years,” said Stonier. “But at the end of the day, the athletes must perform at a high level in order to be successful in the SCC.”

The team was 8-2 last season, second in the SCC West meet and eighth in the SCC championships.

Among the newcomers, Belmonte said, are sophomores Nick Gioielli and Carmine Grippo and freshmen Sam Baker, Joe McGarry and coxswains Aiden Lally and Akshay Khunte. state tourney for second place and was the Medalist in the SCC championships with a 73.
