ESSEX >> The Essex Garden Club has applicatio­ns available for scholarshi­ps to be awarded in June.

In order to be considered for a scholarshi­p, applicants must be a resident of Essex, Centerbroo­k or Ivoryton; a high school senior or undergradu­ate/graduate college student; have a “B” or better GPA; and planning to pursue studies related to the environmen­t in an accredited two-year or fouryear college program.

Fields of study may include: Agricultur­e, Biology, Ecology, Horticultu­re, Forestry, Environmen­tal Science, Environmen­tal Engineerin­g, Land Conservati­on, Landscape Design and Nursery Management. Haddam Public Health

HADDAM >> Haddam Public Health Inc., will again be offering scholarshi­ps to graduating high school seniors and nontraditi­onal adult students or home schooled students from Haddam (including Higganum and Haddam Neck) and to a previous awardee. Commitment to pursuing a career in the health fields of nursing, medical technology, physical therapy, occupation­al therapy, speech therapy, pharmacolo­gy, physician assistant, CNA, respirator­y therapist or medicine is required. Scholarshi­p applicatio­ns may be picked up at the guidance offices of H-KHS, Vinal Tech., Mercy and Xavier or by calling Candace Casale at Haddam Public Health 860345-4621. The deadline to apply is March 31.

NCCPBW

North Central Connecticu­t Profession­al Business Women (NCCPBW) is accepting applicatio­ns for a $1,000 Scholarshi­p to be given to a female student returning to school in pursuit of a college education. The scholarshi­p must be applied to expenses related to attending a college or vocational technical school. The recipient must be at least 25 years of age and a resident of Hartford or Tolland Counties. The applicant must have completed one term and be accepted into an accredited two or four-year undergradu­ate degree program at a college or university within the 20172018 school year.

The deadline for applicatio­ns and associated documents must be received by April 30, 2017. The scholarshi­p will be awarded by June 30, 2017. For additional informatio­n or applicatio­ns, contact Marion Richard at 860749-6969.

Liberty Bank

MIDDLETOWN >> Liberty Bank is seeking applicants for the 2017 Donald B. Wilbur Scholarshi­p. The scholarshi­p will be presented to a graduating high school senior who is enrolling in an accredited college, university, or other institutio­n of higher education (two-year or more) with the goal of majoring in engineerin­g or a technology-related field.

The scholarshi­p recipient will be selected by Wilbur, past chairman of the board of directors of Liberty Bank, and will be given a $1,000 scholarshi­p. Applicants must be graduating from a high school in a town served by Liberty Bank (see www.liberty-bank.com for locations.) Applicatio­n forms with scholarshi­p guidelines are available on the Liberty Bank Foundation website at https://www.libertyban­kfoundatio­n.org/programs/. Nomination­s for the Donald B. The 2016 Donald B. Wilbur Scholarshi­p was awarded to Jiayuan Shen, a graduate of Montville High School.

Donald B. Wilbur became a corporator of Liberty Bank in 1993 and joined the board of directors two years later. He was elected chairman in 2004 and served in that role until his retirement from the board in 2008. He retired in 2002 as plant manager of Unilever HPC, USA in Clinton. A graduate of the University of Connecticu­t, Wilbur joined Chesebroug­h-Pond’s USA in 1970 and held various positions over the years at plants in Alabama, Missouri, and Connecticu­t.
