When Randy Edsall was brought back for his second stint as UConn’s football coach, there were those who had concerns about where recruiting homegrown talent ranked on his priority list.

There’s still 10 months to go before his first full recruiting class is finalized, but Edsall’s staff has secured its second commitment from a linebacker from Connecticut.

Cheshire Academy’s Dillon Harris, who began his career at Bloomfield High, committed to UConn on Wednesday to become the second member of the Class of 2018.

According to the rivals. com site, Harris is the No. 2 rated Connecticut prospect in the class while fellow UConn commit Kevon Jones from East Hartford is rated fifth among instate players.

According to the 247sports.com site, he held offers from Boston College, Maryland, Michigan, Rutgers, Syracuse and Temple.

FOUR HUSKIES EARN HAMPSHIRE HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP

Four seniors on the 2016 UConn team earned membership into the National Football Foundation’s Hampshire Honor Society.

Seniors need to have a GPA of at least 3.2 during their playing careers to earn this prestigious honor.

Andreas Knappe, who started 31 games at right offensive tackle over the last three seasons, defensive lineman and former Xavier High star Sean Marinan, kicker Bobby Puyol and punter Justin Wain give UConn the most honorees among American Athletic Conference programs.

Yale had 10 players honored: Robert Clemons, Leo Haenni, Bryan Holmes, Beau Iverson, Cheshire’s Sebastian Little, Marty Moesta, Candler Rich, Blake Rowlinson, Jack Rushin and Jackson Stallings.
