SIGN LANGUAGE: Sign Language for Teens will be held April 12 and April 19, 6-7 p.m. in the Activity Room, Russell Library, 123 Broad Street. Middletown. Led by Gabriella Castorena, a Sophmore Psychology major at Wesleyan University, introducing Deaf Culture and teach all the basic types of sign-language, such as the alphabet, numbers, greetings, food, and much more! WORLD WAR I DIARIES: Over There: The World War I Diaries of Dr. Jessie Weston Fisher, will be presented April 12, 7 p.m. in the Hubbard Room, Russell Library, 123 Broad Street, Middletown. Sarah Fisher Spencer, Jessie Fisher’s great-granddaughter, Beverly York; Rick Spencer will present readings from Jessie Fisher’s diaries, narration on her life and time in France, historic images, and songs of the period. Sponsored in part by the Connecticut State Library and a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
RUSSELL HOUSE READING: On Wednesday, April 12 at 8 p.m., at Russell House, 350 High Street, Middletown, Wesleyan University Writing Programs will host a reading by Annie Sonnenblick and visiting writer Margo Jefferson. The event is free and open to the public.

WAY OF THE CROSS: The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Notre Dame and St. Coleman Roman Catholic Churches, the Middlefield Federated Church and the United Church of Durham will observe the annual “Way of the Cross” at 12 p.m. on Good Friday. The observance begins at Notre Dame Church, 272 Main St., Durham and ends at the Church of the Epiphany, 196Main St. A wooden cross will be carried and prayers will be said at each of the 14 Stations of the Cross along the way. The cross will be erected on the lawn in front of Epiphany. All members of the community are welcome to participate.
