It’s high time to put an end to puppy mills

- By Camdyn Dunn Camdyn Dunn is a Branford High School student.

I am a student at Branford High School, and we did a project on something we thought should change the world. I feel this topic isn’t brought up enough and needs to be discussed more for people to be aware of the pain these dogs go through. Help put an end to puppy mills.

In the game of buying and selling of puppies, it is all about making the most money, under any circumstance. Dogs are getting bred just to have puppies, and once they are done having many puppies, they throw the dogs out like their lives have no meaning at all.

These breeder dogs have only one purpose in life, and that is to have the most puppies possible. On change.com, it states, “Breeder dogs spend their entire lives in filthy crates only six inches bigger than the dogs themselves; they are not walked or played with; the females are bred each time they go into heat, over and over again until they cannot breed anymore. At this point these dogs are often euthanized or given up at auction for animal testing purposes.”

These breeders have no compassion at any stage in this horrible process. Once these puppies are born, they are just shipped off to pet stores with no medical care and often have major, life-threatening illnesses.

These breeder dogs are puppets for the breeders. These cold-hearted breeders have total control over these innocent dogs’ lives. Speak up for these mill dogs, for they have no voice. You cannot hear the quivering pain these dogs experience, for they have no voice. Speak up for them and be the generation that ends puppy mills.

Life: it defines what is living and what isn’t alive, and dogs are most certainly living creatures just like humans. What makes their lives any less significant than ours? Why should we treat them like their lives have no meaning?

Put yourself in their place and imagine how much these dogs go through and how much they are suffering; put an end to puppy mills.

Puppy mills are the prisons for dogs. Every time these unfortunate dogs step foot into a crate, they must have haunting flashbacks about the awful start to their life. These puppy mills are death mills.

Every time they get new dogs to replace the old ones it’s basically a death sentence for these new dogs to be sent to the death mills. What I am looking for out of this is an end to puppy mills, stopping the torture, ending the abuse, and ending the dogs’ captivity in these puppy mills. We can stop puppy mills from distributing mill dogs to pet stores, like all pets, by raising awareness.

Help be the generation that ends puppy mills.
