Lions to hold second Murder Mystery Dinner

HEBRON >> Join the Lions Low Vision Center (LLVC) of Eastern CT for the second Murder Mystery to be held April 29 at the Hebron Lions Club House, 347 Gilead St., Hebron.

A deluxe Polish dinner and homemade desserts will be served between acts of the Murder Mystery. Gluten-free alternativ­es will be available.

Let your mind take you to a time and place where mystery, mayhem and murder are on the menu. The time is the 1920s. Things take a turn for the gutter at Mafia Don Lou Zar’s Juice Joint when someone is put on ice. Guests are encouraged to come dressed for the time and event. Flapper dresses and feather boas for the girls and pinstripe suits, fedoras and overcoats for the guys. Or come as a private detective to help solve the crime. The event begins at 6:30 p.m., and the show is anticipate­d to take three hours. Guests are encouraged to bring drinks, alcoholic and otherwise; coffee and water will be available. Tickets prices are $50 each, two for $90, a table of eight for $350 or a table of 10 for $440. Tickets are available by calling Lee Anderson at 860-942-2527 or Howard Wiley at 860-267-1535. Credit cards are accepted. Tickets cannot be purchased at the door. Last year’s Murder Mystery Dinner was sold out.

Theater company announces programs

NEWINGTON >> The Newington Children’s Theatre Company, Connecticu­t’s longest running children’s theater, has announced the 2017 Summer Stages lineup.

For ages, 5-7, programs run Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to noon. For ages 8-16, programs run Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Before and after care is available.

To kick off the 2017 Summer Stages, NCTC’s first session is “Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Kids!” running June 19 to 23, with performanc­es June 23 to 25. It’s Princess Aurora’s 16th birthday and three fairies must use their magic to save her from the spell of the evil sorceress Maleficent!

For ages 8-16, NCTC’s second session, “A Year With Frog an Toad Kids!” runs June 26 to July 9. For ages 5 to 7, July 3 to 9. There is no program on July 4. Performanc­es are July 7 to 9. This whimsical show follows two best friends, a cheerful Frog and a rather grumpy Toad through four fun-filled seasons, as they celebrate their difference­s that make them unique and special. Session three, “Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr.,” runs July 10 to 28, for ages 8 to 16, and July 24 to 28, for ages 5 to 7. Performanc­es are July 28 to 30. In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home behind and live in the world above. Rounding out NCTC’s 2017 Summer Stages, is “Disney’s Aristocats Kids,” July 31 to Aug. 11, for ages 8 to 16, and Aug. 7 to 11, for ages 5 to 7. Performanc­es are Aug. 11 to 13. In the heart of Paris, a kind millionair­ness wills her estate to her high-society cat. Adventure ensue as the greedy butler pulls off the ultimate catnap caper! Now it’s up to the alley cat and his ruffians to save the day!

Electronic­s recycling event is Thursday

MIDDLETOWN >> The Middlesex Community College Computer Club is partnering with Green Monster e-Cycling of West Hartford to sponsor the College’s annual electronic­s recycling event on Thursday, April 20, at the Middletown campus, 100 Training Hill Road, lower parking lot. Donations can be dropped off from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Residents can bring old, unused or unwanted electronic equipment such as computers, laptops, printers, television­s, fax machines, modems/ routers/switches/hubs, toner and inkjet cartridges, stereos/ radios, DVD/CD players, iPods/ Walkmen, PDAs, medical and lab equipment, mainframes, server racks, and all types of cables and wiring. Green Monster guarantees that data will be wiped or destroyed from all hard drives. No air conditione­rs, washer/dryers, refrigerat­ors, light bulbs or household batteries will be accepted. Donations are welcome to purchase computers for MxCC students in need.
