Free youth fishing derby coming up
MIDDLETOWN >> The city will host a youth fishing derby April 29 at Butternut Pond from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The event, sponsored by the city’s recreation and community services, planning, conservation and development; public works and health departments, will be held rain or shine. It is for Middletown residents ages 4 to 14.
Volunteers will be available to help children and there will be a limited number of fishing poles to borrow. The Fishin’ Factory of Middletown has donated bait for the free event.
On-site registration that day runs from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., with awards at 10:45 a.m.
Registration is available online at middletownct. gov/webtrac, by mail or in person at the senior center, 61 Durant Terrace.
On the day of the derby, registrations will be taken on a limited basis — up to 250 slots are open.
