Restaurant to host wine dinner on May 9
OLD SAYBROOK >> Alforno restaurant in Old Saybrook will host a Marchesi Antinori Wine Dinner at 6:30 p.m. May 9. Guest speaker will be Mike Wylie, state manager of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates.
The Antinori family has been involved in wine production for 60 generations. Founded in 1385, Antinori is one of Italy’s leading wine producers known for the family’s commitment to both tradition and innovation.
The evening will open with a reception featuring Santa Cristina Campogrande Orvieto Classico 2015 followed by a four-course menu and wines.
The dinner begins with an antipasti of assorted salumi and three crostini — fava beans and arugula, honey-whipped ricotta, and wild mushrooms and parmigiano reggiano — paired with Antinori Castello della Sala Bramito Chardonnay 2016.
The second course is a classic Tuscan dish: Pappardelle al Cinghiale — wild boar ragu tossed with housemade pappardelle — served with Guado al Tasso Il Bruciato Bolgheri DOC 2014.
The entrée is boneless stuffed guinea hen over roasted radicchio and grilled asparagus, paired with Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico Riserva 2010.
Lazzaroni Amaretto will accompany a dessert of housemade biscotti and pistachio semifreddo.
