Palace Theater kicks off new series

-

WATERBURY >> The Palace Theater kicks off a new series, Brews & Blues, on Thursday, May 11, at 8 p.m. with The James Montgomery Band and special guests Christine Ohlman from SNL and Cliff Goodwin from Joe Cocker’s Band.

This up-close-and-personal, non-main stage event takes place in the Poli Club with limited seating available.

The show is produced by New England Arts & Entertainment and includes a beer tasting from Black Hog Brewery.

When blues legend James Montgomery plays the harmonica, he “brings it on home.” Whether it’s recording with Kid Rock, sitting in with Gregg Allman, or fronting his hot band of 30 years, Montgomery plays with authority.

While growing up in Detroit he learned first-hand from the masters — James Cotton, John Lee Hooker and Jr. Wells — at the legendary “Chessmate.”

Over the years, he’s carried on in the tradition and continues to be a vital presence in Blues as one of the most dynamic performers on the scene.

Tickets are available from the Palace Theater Box Office for $35, which includes the beer tasting at www.PalaceTheaterCT.org or 203-346-2000.

Special VIP passes are available for $50 that also include a meet and greet with the band, best seats in the house, and FREE beer throughout the show from Black Hog.

Information on all the shows can be found at www.neaae.com.
