MHS DECA students place in top 20 percent at competition
MIDDLETOWN >> Four Middletown High School students earned medals and 28 finished in the top 20 percent of their competitions at the 2017 DECA International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California, April 25 to 30.
“Each competitive event had between 200 and 300 student competitors,” said teacher/adviser David Reynolds in a prepared statement. “All were winners at their respective state and district competitions prior to this event, so to earn a top 20 percent is excellent. Our team did very well.”
Some 38 students qualified for the international competition which included testing, academic workshops and related activities, networking and performing problem-solving role play case study presentations, said Reynolds.
Students Hind Fares and Kenneth Liappes won a Best Presentation medal, a Top 20 International Finalist Medal and a Top 10 International Team in Hospitality Team Decision Making Medal.
Student Kristy Kiniry won an International Best Presentation Medal and student Gwyn Reutenauer took an International Best Presentation medal.
The following students also earned top 20 percent international competitor recognition in their respective competitions: Aliya Hayes, Seth Simmons, Jenna Dickes, Isabelle Morales, Sam Pizzonia, Veronica Meyer, Vanessa Pramberger, Grace Delmasatro, Morgan Resnisky, Jen Barbour, Gabi Lanza and Alan Cunningham.
Also, Bree Ciarcia, Richard Nakatsuka, Jay Nanfito, Taylor Winzer, Maddie Hart, Trevor Getek, Jalen Coleman, Matt Cantwell, Sofian Albayati, Vincent Gritzuk, Mike Held and Cameron Moskey. DECA International Career Development Conference
