MURRAY, RICHARD
Richard Murray, 76, of Middletown, beloved husband of Maureen (Dunn) Murray, died peacefully on May 9, 2017 at Portland Care and Rehab. He was born in Middletown, son of the late James and Mary (Sheehan) Murray. Prior to his retirement, Richard worked as a security guard for Pratt & Whitney in Middletown and later with Securitas at CT Yankee. He graduated from Middletown High School class of 1958 where he participated in track and football. He was a coach of the Middlefield-Middletown Youth Football program. He was a member of the Elks and the Polish National Home. Richard loved watching his sons grow up while playing football and baseball. He also enjoyed sports, especially football Sunday, John Wayne movies and card games with his buddies, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Besides his wife Maureen, Richard is survived by his sons, Richard Murray and his wife Sherri of Portland, Sean Murray and his wife Robin Pi secki of Boynton Beach, FL, brother, Dennis Murray and his wife Mary Ellen, sister, Eileen Mark and her husband Lyle, three grandchildren, Jessica, Al nieces lison and Connor Murray as well as several and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, James and John Murray. His Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday May 18th at 11 a.m. at St. John Church, Middletown. Friends may gather prior to the service from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Middletown.
