PUBLIC INFO SESSION:
The city of Middletown will host a public information session with Eversource on May 16, 6-7 p.m. concerning right-of-way management, to help educate the public on Eversource’s vegetation and right-of-way management best practices used on the transmission corridors here in Connecticut. Representatives from Eversource’s Vegetation Management and Environmental Licensing & Permitting teams will make a presentation and answer questions. The event will be held in the Council Chambers of City Hall located at 245 deKoven Drive. MILITARY MUSEUM: The Greater Middletown Military Museum will meet May 16, 7 p.m. at the American Legion Building, 58 Bernie O’Rourke Drive, Middletown. All are welcome to attend.

Wesleyan Potters Gallery Shop spring show Home is Made featuring hand crafted pieces for the home opens May 17 with a wide variety of artisan crafted gifts for weddings, graduations, anniversaries and spring holidays. FOOD TRUCK FEST: A Fabulous Food Truck Festival and Town Center Spotlight will be held on May 17 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Middlefield Federated Church on Route 157 in Middlefield. Several trucks will present a variety of foods, from hamburgers to falafels to burritos. Live entertainment, including singing groups and a demonstration of martial arts from the Renaissance period will be provided and organizations from the town center will join together to make this event a celebration of community activities. A casual walking tour is available that can include a visit to the fire department, a book sale at the library, and Open House and bake sale at the Middlefield Children’s Center.

HIP HOP WORKSHOP: A hip hop workshop: Turntablism with DJ N.E.B., will be held May 20, 10 a.m. in the Hubbard Room, Russell Library, 123 Broad Street, Middletown. One of the four pillars of Hip Hop is ‘Turntablism’ — the art of creating music using two turntables and cross-fading from one to the other. Drop-in, no registration.
BREAKING WORKSHOP: HIP HOP Workshop: Breaking with B-boy Bryan Giles, will be held May 20, 10 a.m. in the Activity Room, Russell Library, 123 Broad Street, Middletown. All ages are welcome to participate or just watch as teaching artist and b-boy Bryan Giles demonstrates and teaches the classic movements of breaking and its many variations. HOOPFEST EXHIBIT: Middletown Summer Hoopfest Exhibit Opening will be held May 20, 11 a.m. in the lobby of the Russell Library, 123 Broad Street, Middletown. In celebration of the upcoming Tenth Annual Middletown Summer Hoopfest, an exhibit of photos from the nine previous years will be decorating the lobby and alcove galleries, all taken by photographer Tony Donovan.
