McCaleb (3 hits) leads Cromwell

MHS tennis earns state tournament berth

Don McCaleb had three hits and three RBIs to lead Cromwell to an 11-2 win over Portland Tuesday in the SLC tournament opener.

Luke Matchett also had three hits for Cromwell. Zach Lombardo and Jared Valentin each drove in two runs for the Panthers, who scored six runs in the first inning.

Austin Roy struck out six Portland batters.

Softball

MERCY 6, LAURALTON HALL 5>> Michelle Theilgard was was 2 for 4 with a two-run home run, two runs scored and a stolen base. Danielle Lajoie was 3 for 4 and Ally Rosa had an RBI double for Mercy.
