Riverfront Park music, arts festival set June 10

PORTLAND >> The Brownstone Quorum and the Town of Portland are cosponsori­ng a springtime event – The Portland Riverfront Park Music and Arts Festival, on Saturday, June 10, 12 to 8 p.m. at the Portland Riverfront Park. The rain date is Sunday, June 11.

The festival will feature continual folk, Americana, blues, and rock music, along with arts and crafts booths and food vendors.

Admission is $10 per person, with 12 and under free at the gate, with all proceeds being used for future events and improvemen­ts at Portland Riverfront Park.

Additional sponsors are The Brownstone Arts group of Portland, The Portland Historical Society, Ever Green Landscapin­g, and Portland True Value Hardware. Other sponsorshi­ps accepted; please email the event organizer Frank Winiski at fwiniski@yahoo.com.

The line-up includes Deep Ellum at 12 p.m.; Seat of Our Pants at 1 p.m., We Got Rhythm at 2:15 p.m., The Mighty Soul Drivers at 4:15 p.m., and Plywood Cowboy at 6:15 p.m.

Deep Ellum acoustic duo plays an “Americana” mix of blues, classic jazz, folk, bluegrass, and oldies.

Seat of Our Pants is a popular group based out of Marlboroug­h that features an eclectic blend of Americana, folk, blues, bluegrass, country and rock

We Got Rhythm! is a classic song and dance group performing in modern vaudeville style.

The Mighty Soul Drivers plays classic Soul sounds of Memphis, Muscle Shoals and points south to the hills of New England.

Plywood Cowboy’s music evokes sounds of country, folk, jazz, and roots genres. Multi-instrument­alist singer/songwriter Steve Dedman and his band are considered by many to be one of the best new bands on the Americana scene.

Portland Riverfront Park is at 284 Brownstone Ave. near the historic brownstone quarries.

Park facilities include a large open pavilion for dining and relaxation, men’s and women’s restrooms, and a grand view of the Connecticu­t River.
