GIRLS LACROSSE: 5 PLAYERS TO WATCH

- — Dan Nowak

• Emma Jacques, M, Darien: One of the top offensive-minded midfielders in the state, Jacques contributes on both ends of the field. She had five goals and two assists to lead Darien to a 17-7 win over Ridgefield in the FCIAC tournament final, the Blue Wave’s sixth straight title. She has committed to play at Northwestern. • Carly Schoudel, G, Darien: While the Blue Wave dominate on offense, their defense, led by Schoudel, isn’t too shabby. The Blue Wave have allowed seven goals or less in their last eight games. Schoudel had 11 saves in Darien’s 17-7 win over Ridgefield in the FCIAC final and was named the tournament MVP.

• Caroline Curnal, A, Ridgefield: Curnal, an all-state basketball and volleyball player, has used her size and strength to become one of the top draw specialists in the state. She also contributes on offense. She had five goals and an assist in a 14-11 win over New Canaan in the FCIAC tournament semifinals to lead the Tigers to their first appearance in the FCIAC final (177 loss to Darien). • Carolynn Pechmann, G, Cheshire: While

the Rams have their share of on-field talent and depth on offense, defense and midfield, coach Dan Warburton said Pechmann has been the backbone of the team this season. She led the Rams to the SCC tournament final with 11 saves in a 13-12 win over Branford in the semifinals. She had 10 saves in a 7-5 loss to Hand in the final. Despite playing in the very tough Class L tournament, with Pechmann the Rams have the potential to reach the final.

• Taylor Scully, M, Hand: The Tigers’ field general, the versatile Scully contributes in just about every phase of the game for coach Kevin Siedlecki. She causes turnovers and contributes in the transition game. In some games she’s the playmaker, other games she’s the top scorer and other games she dominates both ways. In the SCC tournament semifinals, she had five goals and four assists in a 22-9 win over Lauralton Hall. She had a goal and two assists in a 7-5 win over Cheshire in the SCC final and will likely make an impact in the Class M tournament.
