GMChorale to perform ‘Vocal Alchemy’ June 3-4

-

GMChorale invites you to join them for a very special concert, “Vocal Alchemy,” featuring the 24 voices of the GMChorale Chamber Singers, comprised of both members of the Chorale and professional singers.

This concert season is the ensemble’s first, and it is quickly becoming recognized for its vocal beauty, subtleties and power.

The ensemble’s unique sound adapts stylistically and interpretively to whatever music it sings, thereby making “a seemingly magical process of transformation, creation, or combination,” as defines alchemy.

The program will feature choral music from the romantic period, as well as from the 20th and 21st centuries. Music by composers such as Schumann, Brahms, Durufle, Bruckner, Britten, Vaughan Williams, Mulholland, Thompson and Parker, will be included.

Accomplished pianist Allan Conway will accompany the voices of the GMChorale Chamber Singers.

Performed in two beautiful churches known for their appealing acoustics and commitment to music, this program will be an auditory feast. The voices of the GMChorale Chamber Singers will astound listeners with their musical precision and magnificent sound.

The first concert will be on Saturday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, in Glastonbury. Tickets will be available at the door only, with a suggested donation of $10 and a family maximum of $20.

The second concert will be on Sunday, June 4 at 3 p.m. at the United Congregational Church of Tolland. Tickets are $15 for Adults and $10 for Students, and are available at www.gmchorale.org.

“Vocal Alchemy” is funded, in part, through a grant from the Community Foundation of Middlesex County.
