LYME PUBLIC HALL MEETING: Join the Lyme Public Hall Association for its annual meeting and potluck dinner, Thursday, June 8, 6 p.m. at the hall, 249 Hamburg Rd., Lyme, for a talk on Cherub Stones of Lyme: 1720 – 1805. Jim Beers, Lyme Public Hall board member, will discuss his research into the itinerant stone carvers who decorated the headstones in the town’s graveyards. ART GUILD EXHIBIT: The Art Guild of Middletown will hold its annual Juried Exhibit at Wesleyan University’s Zilkha Gallery, Middletown, CT, June 9-17. The judge is artist Shauna Shane. A gala opening reception and awards ceremony is Friday, June 9 from 7-9 p.m. Gallery hours are Saturday, June 10 through Saturday, June 17 from 1-4 p.m. daily. Former Middletown resident Minh Lê, shares his new book, Let Me Finish!, which tells the story of a young boy who is trying to read a book but encounters some unusual creatures that keep trying to spoil the ending. Find out how the story ends in this authorled event. This program is a drop-in program for families with children of all ages. Light refreshments will be served. CARD ANGELS: The Card Angels will be making cards on June 10, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Brainerd Memorial Library in Haddam. The goal is to make 680 cards. All materials will be provided. No card making experience required, just a willingness to learn. Donations of glue sticks/adhesive, bright/ colorful scrapbook paper and embellishments are accepted and appreciated.
