HSO kicks off music festival on June 30

SIMSBURY » The Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s Talcott Mountain Music Festival kicks off with Celebrate America! Friday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center in Simsbury, CT. Celebrate summer with Connecticu­t’s favorite Independen­ce Day celebratio­n! Conducted by HSO Music Director Carolyn Kuan, and featuring the Asylum Hill Congrega- tional Church Choir, this program will include all of your patriotic favorites and more. The Celebrate America! concert is sponsored by Citizens Bank, a new Festival partner for 2017. Attendees can enjoy a compliment­ary photo booth courtesy of the Bank, which will also have volunteers on site to assist attendees as they arrive.

The mission of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra is to enrich lives and community through great music. Marking its 73rd Season in 2016-2017, the HSO is Connecticu­t’s premier musical organizati­on, the second largest orchestra in New England, and widely recognized as one of America’s leading regional orchestras. The Hartford Symphony Orchestra named Carolyn Kuan as its tenth music director in January 2011; she is the first woman and youngest person to hold this title.
