DUMEER, BLANCHE SIMPSON

-

Blanche (Simpson) Dumeer, 94, wife of the late Burton A. Dumeer for 48 years, passed away at One MacDonough Place on Thursday, June 22, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hartford, CT, the daughter of the late Charles and Amelia Simpson. Blanche’s family was her top priority for all of her years. A caretaker at heart, she showed her love for them by cooking and baking their favorite dishes on birthdays, holidays, or just because. Once her children were grown, she opened her home to all of her grandchildren while they were in elementary school and regularly nursed them to health on sick days. She never said “no” to joining her family on a vacation, especially to the Bahamas or their cottage “up north,” or to a good cup of hot coffee. Ever a lady, she was always stylishly dressed without a hair out of place. She had a special soft spot for dogs, especially her dogs, Duke and Duchess, and her “granddogs” Buddy, Fenway, and Brady. Her final years at One MacDonough Place were happy ones, with lots of visits from her family and new friends. She will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her son, Harry B. Dumeer and wife Jody of Middletown, her daughter, Carol Parmelee-Blancato and husband Joseph Blancato of Farmington, CT. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Stephen Par Massachusetts; melee and wife Mikala of Seekonk, H Brian Dumeer and wife Julie of Middletown, and Kate Dumeer of Cambridge, Massachusetts. She leaves behind her four great-grandchildren, Coady Fiero Parmelee, Isabella Fiero Parmelee, Violet Fiero Parmelee, and Holden B. Dumeer. She leaves a sister-in-law, Amparo Simpson, and a brother-inlaw, Wally Dumeer, and his wife Helen. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Bernice (Dumeer) Bell, and her three brothers, Charles Simpson, Merrill Simpson and Lionel Simpson. Blanche’s family sincerely thanks Dr. William Ziedler and the Middlesex Hospital Hospice & Palliative Care team for their devoted care. They also thank the wonderfully compassionate staff at One Macdonough Place for providing Blanche with excellent daily care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Middlesex Hospital Hospice & Palliative Care at (28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457) or the Town of Cromwell, c/o the Cromwell Dog Park at (41 West Street, Cromwell, CT 06416). Funeral services and burial were privately held.
