Area college students graduate, make dean’s lists

Nichols College

DUDLEY, MASSACHUSE­TTS » Nichols College recognized students who achieved dean’s list status for their academic work during the spring 2017 semester, including Tamyia King of Middletown, Vincent Langenfeld of East Hampton, Kevin Radavich of East Hampton and Nicholas Roy of Middletown.

The college also graduated over 300 students on May 6, including Aaron Tonks of Ivoryton, who earned a bachelor of science in business administra­tion.

PAUL SMITHS, NEW YORK » The following students were named to the dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College during the spring 2017 semester. Each earned a semester average of 3.3 or higher to receive this distinctio­n.

They are: Lydia Harvey of Old Saybrook was also named an Adirondack Scholar, having achieved a cumulative average of at least 3.8; and Christophe­r Malin of Old Saybrook.

SkillsUSA Championsh­ips

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY » Career and technical students in Connecticu­t won some of the nation’s highest awards at the 2017 SkillsUSA Championsh­ips June 21 to 22.

Students were invited to the event to demonstrat­e their technical skills, workplace skills and personal skills in 100 handson occupation­al and leadership competitio­ns including robotics, automotive technology, drafting, criminal justice, aviation maintenanc­e and public speaking.

The following students are certificat­e recipients:

Robert Hartt of East Hampton and a student at Vinal Technical High School in Middletown was awarded a certificat­e in heating, ventilatio­n, air conditioni­ng and refrigerat­ion.

Evan Amara, from Cromwell and a student at Vinal Technical High School was awarded the high school gold medal in technical computer applicatio­ns.
