Area college students graduate, make dean’s lists
Nichols College
DUDLEY, MASSACHUSETTS » Nichols College recognized students who achieved dean’s list status for their academic work during the spring 2017 semester, including Tamyia King of Middletown, Vincent Langenfeld of East Hampton, Kevin Radavich of East Hampton and Nicholas Roy of Middletown.
The college also graduated over 300 students on May 6, including Aaron Tonks of Ivoryton, who earned a bachelor of science in business administration.

BETHLEHEM, PENNSYLVANIA » During commencement ceremonies May 22, Lehigh University conferred degrees to Jacob Smith of Killingworth (bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering) and Jonathan Woods of Essex (bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering).

PAUL SMITHS, NEW YORK » The following students were named to the dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College during the spring 2017 semester. Each earned a semester average of 3.3 or higher to receive this distinction.
They are: Lydia Harvey of Old Saybrook was also named an Adirondack Scholar, having achieved a cumulative average of at least 3.8; and Christopher Malin of Old Saybrook.

SkillsUSA Championships
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY » Career and technical students in Connecticut won some of the nation’s highest awards at the 2017 SkillsUSA Championships June 21 to 22.
Students were invited to the event to demonstrate their technical skills, workplace skills and personal skills in 100 handson occupational and leadership competitions including robotics, automotive technology, drafting, criminal justice, aviation maintenance and public speaking.
The following students are certificate recipients:
Robert Hartt of East Hampton and a student at Vinal Technical High School in Middletown was awarded a certificate in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration.
Evan Amara, from Cromwell and a student at Vinal Technical High School was awarded the high school gold medal in technical computer applications.
