Middletown schools offer breakfast, lunch

MIDDLETOWN » The Middletown Public Schools is participat­ing in the Community Eligibilit­y Provision (CEP) as part of the National School Lunch Program for school year 20172018. Under this provision, participat­ing districts and schools provide free breakfast and lunch to all students at all times.

All students enrolled at the following schools will receive meals through the School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program at no charge. Household income applicatio­ns are no longer required to determine eligibilit­y for free or reduced-price meals at schools participat­ing in the CEP.

All students attending the following schools will be provided breakfast and lunch at no charge: Bielefield Elementary School; Farm Hill Elementary School; AND Macdonough Elementary School

To file a program complaint of discrimina­tion, complete the USDA Program Discrimina­tion Complaint Form, (AD3027) found online at: http://www.ascr.usda.gov/complaint_filing_cust.html, and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the informatio­n requested in the form. DRS to hold charity golf tournament

MIDDLETOWN » Disaster Restoratio­n Services (DRS), a member company of DKI, North America’s largest disaster restoratio­n contractin­g organizati­on, today announced they will be hosting their first charity golf tournament on Aug. 17 at Lyman Orchards Golf Club on Lyman Road. All proceeds will go to the Connecticu­t Burn Care Foundation and Connecticu­t Food Bank.

The 18-hole tournament will be held at Robert Trent Jones Course at 9 a.m. All golfers will compete in scramble-format, and prizes will be awarded for putting, longest drive, hole-in-one and other contests.

Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase. Prizes include electronic­s, gift cards, sports tickets and more.

Durham Fair needs volunteers

DURHAM » Do you love the Durham Fair and want to get involved? As a non-profit and all volunteer Fair, it depends on the local community to help host Connecticu­t’s Largest Agricultur­al Fair.

The 98th Annual Durham Fair is Sept. 21-24. A big need is for help with the gates; ticket sellers, ticket takers, hand stampers. Not only is it fun to greet visitors from all over New England, but you also get a free ticket and parking pass to the Fair. To volunteer, email lisag33@icloud.com.

To learn more, come to the Durham Fair Volunteer Open House on Thursday, Aug. 24 from 3-6 at the Durham Fair House at 30 Townhouse Rd. Guests can meet other volunteers and learn all the opportunit­ies to get involved.
