‘Significant’ contributions for Adelbrook’s program

-

CROMWELL » Ädelbrook recently thanked the generous donors that helped fund the seven-week Extended School Year program that provided its students with a safe, fun summer experience: American Savings Foundation, Camp Squanto, Swanzey, NH, Central Region Community Services Fund — Employees of Frontier Communications, Karl B. Christofferson, Congregational Church of South Glastonbury, Mary Jane Converse, Covenant Children’s Ministries, Eversource Energy, Light Rigging Company, Lily Palmer Fry Memorial Trust, Bank of America, N.A. Trustee, Garry & Gail Mullaney, William C. Nolan and Rocky Hill Congregational Church and the other individuals and groups that donated to the program.

Because of their donations, students enjoyed a summer theme with Connecting to Connecticut. The weekly themes were structured around the history, geography, farming, wildlife and fun found in Connecticut.

Students volunteered time at Cold Spring Farm in East Haddam, visited the State Capitol, toured Middlesex Community College, played at the Adventure Park at Storrs and much, much more.

“The Learning Center is so blessed to have such wonderful support for our summer program. We wouldn’t be able to provide our students with such meaningful and fun filled community experiences without their contributions,” said Michelle Andrews, director of education for Ädelbrook’s The Learning Center in Cromwell.

These experiences not only provide fun for Ädelbrook students, but they also provide opportunities for them to learn valuable life skills, connect to their community and perhaps, most importantly, to continue to progress during the summer months instead of regress.
