Wesleyan bringing Xfinity to campus
Students can watch live TV, On Demand
MIDDLETOWN » College students will have the option of tuning in to cable TV services on campus, as part of a collaboration between Wesleyan University and Comcast.
Comcast is now offering Xfinity On Campus, allowing students to watch live TV, On Demand and recorded content on their IP-enabled devices, including laptops, tablets, smartphones and, new this year, Roku players, according to a press release. The service is included with room and board for students living in on-campus housing.
Xfinity On Campus provides access to 80 live channels, including major broadcast networks, channels like AMC, Bravo, Comedy Central, ESPN, FX and MTV through Comcast’s Xfinity Stream app and portal. The service also includes access to thousands of current season TV shows and hit movies via Xfinity On Demand. While off campus, students can use the Xfinity Stream app to login and access TV Everywhere programming that’s part of their subscription, the release says.
“Bringing Xfinity on Campus to Wesleyan University is a true game-changer for their students,” said Michael Parker, regional senior vice president for Comcast’s Western New England Region, in a prepared statement. “We know that this young generation of viewers consumes content while on the move, at their convenience, and across multiple devices. Xfinity on Campus meets this need, and serves as a nice value-add for students residing on campus.”
Students can also upgrade their Xfinity On Campus accounts to include a selection of premium channels, including HBO, Showtime and STARZ, as well as the Sports Entertainment Package, which includes popular channels like ESPN Goal Line, the release continues.
To register, students visit xfinityoncampus.com, type in their school name and authenticate with their student user name and password. Once registered, students can watch their programming anytime by downloading the Xfinity Stream app or by visiting tv.xfinity.com and logging in with their student credentials.
