‘Sherlock Holmes’ goes on tour

Live performances are scheduled until Oct. 25

-

EAST HADDAM » The East Haddam Stage Company (EHSCO) has Victorian actor and Connecticut native William Gillette’s actual script of “Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Speckled Band,” originally broadcast live in October 1930 out of New York City.

Gillette created the character of Sherlock Holmes for the stage in 1899.

The program is a one-hour presentation beginning with a 15-minute introduction by producing artistic director Kandie Carle, exploring mid-20th century radio show history and lore, on to how EHSCO came to have this authentic script. After the introduction, four actors portray seven different characters, including live sound effects, in the 30-minute murder mystery, “Sherlock Holmes and

The Mystery of the Speckled Band.”

Attendees become the ‘studio’ audience, and the event wraps up with a Q &A.

The East Haddam Stage Company launched in 2002 with a mission to showcase the talents of CT actors, writers and poets.

The company creates intimate, non-musical comedies, dramas, and historical based works as well as outdoor entertainment as the resident theatre company at Gillette Castle State Park, East Haddam.

On tour, they bring engaging, funny and thought provoking live theatre to venues across New England and beyond.

The tour runs until Oct. 25. For a tour schedule and more information on the company, go to www.EHSCO.org, call 860873-3521, or email info@ EHSCO.org.
