69th annual Berlin Fair opens Friday with music, shows, more

BERLIN » The 69th annual Berlin Fair will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15-17 at the Berlin Fairground­s in East Berlin.

Hosted by the Berlin Lions Club, the fair will feature live music, NoJoe’s Circus, a Painted Pony Rodeo, World of Wheels kart racing, livestock shows and draws, truck and tractor pulls, Extraordin­ary Variety Show, exhibits, contests, traditiona­l fair food and much more, dozens of vendors, and midway games and rides for all ages.

Fair highlights include the Children’s Rodeo at 2 p.m. on Friday), Connecticu­t State Tractor Pullers from 5-11 p.m. Friday, Frankie Ballard concert at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Last Licks concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday), Oxen & Cattle Draw at 10 a.m. on Sunday, and Jeff Pitchell & Legends Show with Gregg Allman’s son Michael, Stevie Ray Vaughan’s nephew Tyrone and B.B. King’s daughter Claudette at 3 p.m. on Sunday).

Fair fare prepared by community organizati­ons includes hot buttered lobster rolls, smoked turkey legs, fried mac and cheese, chowders, homemade pies, peach fritters, old-fashioned candy and fudge, and chocolate-covered bacon and other deep-fried goodies.

Daily fair admission is $12 for ages 12 and older, $8 for seniors 62 and older, and free for children under 12.

Unlimited ride wristbands are $30 on Friday and Sunday. Ride tickets are $1.50 each, $25 for 20 tickets, or $50 for 50 tickets plus 1 free ride. Rides take 3-5 tickets each. Visit DreamlandA­musements. com for coupon savings on rides and food.
