Mud Morganfield debuts in Collinsville

- By John Atashian

Bluesman and son of the legendary Muddy Waters, Mud Morganfield, will make his debut concert appearance at Bridge Street Live in Collinsville on Friday, July 13. Multi-award-winning artist Mud Morganfield is an established star in the world of Blues music.

The eldest son of the legendary Muddy Waters, Larry “Mud” Williams was raised by his mother and often heard the nicknames of “Muddy,” “Muddy Jr.,” and “Little Muddy.” But he prefers Mud Morganfield, and it is fitting; it is uncanny how much he looks and sounds like his dad.

Brought up surrounded by many of the finest musicians in the Blues, Mud’s singing is firmly in best of traditions of Chicago Blues, but he is also a writer of great new songs and is backed by some of the best musicians playing today. He is acclaimed by both critics and artists, such as Buddy Guy and Jools Holland, for his own musical ability.

Mud’s award-winning album, “Son of the Seventh Son,” was launched on Severn Records in 2012 to rave reviews. In 2014, Mud’s collaboration with Kim Wilson, the album “For Pops: A Tribute to Muddy Waters,” attracted more critical acclaim and awards, and went on to win a Blues Music Award in the “Traditional Blues Album” category.

Tickets to see Mud at Bridge Street Live are $30 for General Admission and $40 for VIP Reserved Seating. For tickets or for more information on this upcoming show, call 860-6939762 or visit www.41bridgestreet.com
