KEEP AN EYE ON

⏩ League of their own: UConn has never lost a regular season or conference tournament game in the five years of the American Athletic Conference, so news of the Huskies being able to clinch the AAC title isn’t exactly “stop the presses” material. Still, a win by the Huskies would give them the outright AAC title for the fifth season in a row and 21st outright regular season conference title. UConn has also earned a share of three other conference titles during the Huskies time in the Big East.

⏩ Pencil her in: When the game tips off, Kia Nurse will enter some select company with her 135th career start to tie Jen Rizzotti for sixth on UConn’s career list. There’s a chance that Nurse could finish second in program history in career starts, but she won’t catch Stefanie Dolson’s mark of 152. She is also six 3-pointers shy of the 250 mark in her career. When she gets there, she will join Bria Hartley, Renee Montgomery, Maya Moore and Diana Taurasi as the only Huskies with at least 250 made free throws and 3-pointers.

⏩ What’s in reserve?: There was some good news and bad news for UConn’s non starters. Azurá Stevens continued her strong finish to the regular season with a game-high 23 points in Wednesday’s win at Tulane. Meanwhile, freshmen Mikayla Coombs and Megan Walker didn’t play even with the Huskies up 39 heading into the fourth quarter. UConn coach Geno Auriemma didn’t offer much insight into what led to them being healthy scratches. More than a few eyes will be on the reserves, in particular Walker, who won the majority of the national player of the year awards as a senior at Monacan (Va.) High School. ⏩ Youth is served: While SMU’s seniors will be honored before the Mustangs’ final home game, a couple of freshmen could be in the spotlight. Ariana Whitfield has started all 14 conference games and in AAC play, she is second on the Mustangs with 38 assists and 22 steals. Johnasia Cash, the cousin of former UConn All-American Swin Cash, has started nine conference games and is averaging 6.6 points and 6 rebounds in conference play.
