CT Future Musicians All-State Band
PORTLAND — The 2018 CT Future Musicians AllState Band will present a concert March 24 at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain. Approximately 280 student musicians, including students from St. John Paul II Regional Catholic School in Middletown — representing 50 elementary and middle school parochial schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford, the Diocese of Norwich and the Diocese of Bridgeport — will be performing.
The concert will feature students in the All-State Gala Band, the youngest All-State group. Musicians in the Gala Band were nominated by the school band directors. The concert will also feature the All-State Jazz, Flute Choir, Concert and Symphonic Bands. Students in these groups were selected, by audition, and represent some of the top musicians in the Future Musicians Band program.
Northeastern University
BOSTON — The following local students were recently named to the Northeastern University dean’s list for the spring semester, which ended in December 2017:
East Hampton resident Makaila Cerrone, majoring in political science; and Ivoryton resident Katherine Mulligan, majoring in business administration. Both are members of the University Honors Program.
Chester resident Matthew Cole, majoring in industrial engineering; Cromwell resident Sean Duffy, an undeclared major; East Hampton resident Carli D’Antonio, majoring in chemical engineering; Essex residents Sarah Martin, majoring in health science; and Nicholas Smith, majoring in business administration; Ivoryton residents Samuel Rosenberg, majoring in health science; and Julia Wlochowski, majoring in computer science/ game design; Killingworth resident Ronit Mandelkern, majoring in psychology; and Portland resident Evan Decina, majoring in mechanical engineering.
To achieve the dean’s list, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.5 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C-.
Western Governors University
SALT LAKE CITY — The following local students have received their degree from Western Governors University: Cheryl Kaszeta of Killingworth, master of science in nursing leadership and management; Frank Maglione of Killingworth, bachelor of science in nursing; Elizabeth Clemmons of Middletown, master of education in instructional design; Nicole Fusco of Middletown, bachelor of science in nursing degree; Steven Melinosky of Middletown, master of business administration in health care management.
St. Lawrence University
CANTON, New York— The following students have been selected for inclusion on the dean’s list for academic achievement during the fall 2017 semester at St. Lawrence University.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester.

Bates College
LEWISTON, Maine — Oaklea Elfstrom was named to the dean’s list at Bates College for the fall semester ending in December 2017. This is a distinction earned by students whose cumulative grade point average is 3.71 or higher. Elfstrom, daughter of Mr. and Ms. Bruce E. Elfstrom of East Haddam, is a 2016 graduate of the Williams School.
