NATURE WALK: Beth Lapin will lead a walk sponsored by Middletown Recreation Division, at Long Hill Estate, a 103-acre estate owned by the city, March 10 at 10 a.m. Guests should for the weather, wear hiking shoes, and bring a light snack and water. Children under age 16 must attend with an adult 18 or older. This is a mostly level loop walk through the park and will last no more than 1.5 hours. Meet Frances Moulder and Juan Goglio, Connecticu­t authors, March 10, 11 a.m. in the lobby at the Russell Library, 123 Broad Street, Middletown. Juan Goglio is the author/illustrato­r of “The Adventures of Woody and Chuck,” a children’s book about two adventurou­s woodchucks from a small New England town, geared to 3- 8 year olds. Frances V. Moulder, Ph.D, has written “Exiting the Extraordin­ary,” about people who return to an ordinary world after extreme experience­s such as disasters, war, prison, great social movements, and reporting on or giving aid to people in such situations. AUDITIONS: The East Haddam Stage Company is holding the first round of auditions for their 2018 performanc­es, including a 10th summer season of outdoor theatre at Gillette Castle State Park, with an adaptation of the first comedy William Gillette wrote, “The Professor”; a one-man original work “Yukitaka Osaki, William Gillette’s Gentleman Valet” in September, then go on tour; a fall tour of the 1930s radio drama “Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Speckled Band,” and a holiday show at Gillette Castle, :Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Christmas Goose.” Auditions will be held Sunday, March 11, 1-4 p.m. at Gillette Castle State Park, visitors center, 67 River Road, East Haddam.
