Bring their pickin’ & tight harmonies to the MAC
Playing for people “is what we’re all about, whether it’s on a street corner, a coffee shop or a theater stage,”
Dustin Meadows
MILFORD — The Meadows Brothers — Chester brothers Ian and Dustin Meadows — have been getting around a bit in recent years, both locally and on the national roots scene.
With appearances on such high-profile stages as MerleFest and the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival and a recent visit to CT Folk’s “Folk Friday” in New Haven in their back pockets, they have been building a name and carving out a reputation as an act worth seeing.
Now it’s Milford’s chance to see them.
The Meadows Brothers, known for tight harmonies and the kind of interplay you might expect from brothers who have been playing together their whole lives, will perform Friday at the Milford Center for the Arts, or MAC, at 40 Railroad Ave. S.
Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $20, available in advance at milfordarts.org. For more info, call 203-878-6647.
Now both in their early 20s (Ian 24, Dustin 22) the Meadows Brothers see their high-energy act “as a manifestation of their lifelong love of folk music, songwriting, old instruments, live performance and high-energy showmanship,” according to a bio on their website.
Before forming The Meadows Brothers, the two played electric rock and began honing their musicianship and songwriting skills all over New England in teen revival band, sayWHAT?
After playing in a few high school coffeehouses accompanied by just an acoustic guitar, they made it official and began playing shows together, blending their “sibling harmonies” with acoustic guitars.
Playing for people “is what we’re all about, whether it’s on a street corner, a coffee shop or a theater stage,” says Dustin.
The MAC has a “BYOEEE” policy, as in “Bring Your Own Everything Except the Entertainment.” Wine, beer and soft drinks, as well as snacks, are also available in the Speakeasy Lounge.
