Cat Tales presents first advocacy award

MIDDLETOWN — Gail Petras, senior animal control officer for the Middletown Police Department, is the first recipient of the Cat Tales Advocate For Animals Award.

The award honors a person who significan­tly influences the quality of animals’ lives through personal commitment to animal welfare within their community. This person also supports Cat Tales’ mission through their actions and contributi­ons of time, funding, knowledge, expertise or profession­al experience.

The award will be presented at the annual Cats in the Castle fundraisin­g event at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsvill­e. For details or to purchase tickets, go to cattalesct.org/ cats-in-the-castle.

Cat Tales is a Connecticu­t-based nonprofit organizati­on dedicated to protecting the quality of life and improving the well being of abused, neglected and abandoned cats and kittens within the community.
