‘Enough is enough’ on gun control laws
March 24 was a proud day for the youth of America who proclaimed “enough is enough” regarding the senseless, ongoing killing epidemic of innocent school children across the nation.
The eloquent, tearful, emotional speeches made by our future leaders at our nation’s capitol were palpable and inspiring. The importance of this rally-march gained international support which only two or three countries did not demonstrate. It seems incomprehensible and unacceptable that most of our elected officials in Congress, which consists of 535 members, are unwilling to address this ongoing American tragedy.
Regrettably, most legislators have chosen to accept the status quo, and are shamefully following the money that is provided by the powerful gun lobby. As a result, they have chosen to represent only a third of their constituency when two-thirds of the nation’s 300 million plus, including the youth of America, are crying out for the enactment of more comprehensive gun control legislation.
The message is loud and clear that our young Americans are unwavering, and eloquently knocking at the doors of Congress demanding change. If Congress fails to get the message for stronger gun regulation, the states will do it. A good example is the state of Connecticut, which has courageously enacted stronger gun legislation.
Enough is enough.
