Yale baseball team splits doublehead­er

Teddy Hague and Dai Dai Otaka both had three hits and an RBI in the opener for the Yale baseball team which won the opener 10-3 over Dartmouth Saturday afternoon in an Ivy League doublehead­er played in New Haven. Dartmouth won the nightcap 3-1.

Benny Wanger and Griffin Day both added two hits and three RBIs for the Bulldogs (16-16, 10-4). Austin Michel pitched three innings of one-hit ball to earn his sixth save in the nightcap for Dartmouth (10-18-1, 6-4-1).

Quinnipiac 9-3, Canisius 5-0: Brandon Shileikis tossed a four-hitter with seven strikeouts for Quinnipiac in the nightcap of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference sweep at Buffalo, New York.

Liam Scafariell­o had two hits and two RBIs in the opener for the Bobcats (20-14). Canisius dropped to 18-19.

Le Moyne 8-12, Southern Conn. 2-5: Tyler Criscuolo went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the nightcap for Southern Connecticu­t (17-18, 1-8), which got swept in the Northeast-10 Conference doublehead­er at New Haven. Le Moyne improved to 26-9-1, 12-3-1.

Albertus Magnus 2-1, Anna Maria 1-6: Tom Crocco’s two-run single in the bottom of the third inning was all Albertus Magnus needed to take the opener of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doublehead­er at New Haven.

Daunte Brinkley had a career-best seven strikeouts in the opener for the Falcons (7-16, 3-5). Anna Maria is now 13-20, 3-7.

SOFTBALL

Yale 5-1, Brown 0-2: Francesca Casalino tossed a four-hit shutout in the opener of an Ivy League doublehead­er split for Yale at New Haven.

Sydney Ginsberg had a two-run single in the first game for the Bulldogs (9-27, 5-12). Brown stands at 9-23, 3-11.

Quinnipiac 7-0, Siena 1-5: Casey Herzog went the distance for her 15th win for Quinnipiac in the opener of a MAAC doublehead­er split at Loudonvill­e, New York.

Keala Cordeiro had two hits and scored twice in the opener for the Bobcats (19-23). Siena stands at 10-18.

Southern Conn. 8-2, Saint Rose 7-1: Jaime Conkli’s RBI single scored Jordan McHal in the bottom of the eighth inning in the opener of Southern Connecticu­t’s NE-10 sweep at New Haven.

Ryane Brush went 2for-5 with three RBIs in the opener for the Owls (8-26). St. Rose dropped to 12-18.

New Haven 5-6, AIC 2-2: Freshman Jovanna Hillman from Seymour had four hits and five RBIs to lead New Haven to the NE-10 sweep at Springfiel­d, Massachuse­tts.

Kylie Stonebreak­er struck out 11 in the nightcap for the Chargers (2018). AIC dropped to 5-28.

Albertus Magnus 9-4, Norwich 7-4: Brianna Whitfield had two hits and two RBIs for Albertus Magnus (20-8, 13-3) in the opener of a GNAC doublehead­er split at Northfield, Vermont. Norwich dropped to 6-12, 4-10.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

No. 20 New Haven 20, Stonehill 13: Jessica Mazliah scored four goals, including the 100th of his career, for New Haven (10-5, 7-4) in an NE-10 win at West Haven.

No. 23 Dartmouth 17, Yale 4: The Big Green (10-3, 5-1) return to the Ivy League tournament for the first time since 2013 with the big win at Hanover, New Hampshire. Yale dropped to 7-7, 2-4.

Niagara 15, Quinnipiac 11: Rachel MacCheyne scored five goals for Niagara (8-8, 5-2) in a MAAC victory in Lewiston, New York. Allison Kuhn had five goals for the Bobcats (5-11, 1-7).

No. 15 Merrimack 16, Southern Conn. 9: Haley Bartlett scored five goals for Merrimack (11-4, 8-3) in an NE-10 win at New Haven. Nicole Healey scored three goals for the Owls (4-11, 3-9).

Norwich 15, Albertus Magnus 4: Emily Schromm and Meaghan McGrath both scored four goals for Norwich (7-5, 5-3) in a GNAC win at Northfield, Vermont. Courtney Cacace scored thee goals for the Falcons (4-10, 0-9).
