We should all be thankful for DeLauro’s leadership

-

When a member of Congress does a standout job on behalf of their constituents it’s important that they be recognized. And, that is the case with U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro. Her leadership and uncompromising commitment helped ensure that the bill to fund the government that passed Congress in March included a major increase in funding for medical research through the National Institutes of Health. Research funded by the NIH improves health, saves lives and offers hope to patients and families affected by disease.

Medical research funded by the NIH touches the citizens of Connecticut in another way, contributing to jobs and economic growth. According to an economic analysis by United for Medical Research, NIH-funded research supported 6,111 jobs and $1.213 billion in economic activity in Connecticut last year alone, proving that support for the NIH is not just good for our health, but for our economic well-being, too.

We hope that all Connecticut residents will join us in thanking Congresswoman DeLauro for supporting increased funding for medical research. She knows that today’s investments are tomorrow’s cures. We should all be thankful for her leadership.

Sincerely, Mike Papale
