Muhlenberg College
ALLENTOWN, Pa.. — Muhlenberg College held its annual honors convocation April 29, an event which celebrates student leadership and scholarly excellence and achievement. Awards recognize members of the faculty and student body for their contributions to the college, as well as to their peers and disciplines.
Chester resident Katelynn Maxwell, a member of the class of 2018, received The George E. Hambrecht Law School Award, s given to a student accepted at a law school who shows the promise of making law a career.
Curry College
MILTON, Mass. — Curry College announces Paulina Adams, of Chester, has been inducted into Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. She was one of 15 students inducted during a ceremony April 20.
Founded in 1929, Psi Chi is a society whose purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology. More than 700,000 lifetime members have joined.
To qualify for membership, a student must be a psychology major, at least a secondsemester sophomore, and have completed at least 12 semester hours of psychology courses with a minimum 3.50 grade-point average in those courses, and minimum 3.50 GPA overall. Students must also exhibit integrity, professionalism and respect.
Ithaca College
ITHACA, N.Y. — Mirelle Tinker of Higganum was one of 20 students awarded scholarships by the New York Women in Communications Foundation recently. Tinker, who studies television-radio at Ithaca College, received a general scholarship at the annual Matrix Awards in New York.
Nichols College
DUDLEY, Mass. — Nichols College honored students with academic awards, certifications, and scholarships for outstanding performance in their fields of study and programs of interest April 17. The seniors will graduate May 5.
Kevin Radavich, a sophomore and finance major from East Hampton, received an academic tutor level-one certification.
Eastern Connecticut State University
WILLIMANTIC — Select Eastern Connecticut State University political science majors were inducted this month into Alpha Beta Gamma, the chapter of the national honor society for political science, Pi Sigma Alpha. Cassidy Neri, class of 2019, of Westbrook, who majors in political science and economics, was one of the inductees.
Pi Sigma Alpha recognized the most promising students in the discipline. The chapter is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies.
In other news, high-achieving psychology students were honored at the annual Psychology Honors Night and Psi Chi Induction Ceremony April 23. Among those recognized: Nathan Edwards, class of 2019, of East Hampton, majors in psychology.
Addele Martin, class of 2019, of East Haddam, majors in early childhood education.
Cameron Noel, class of 2018, of Portland, majors in history.
Katherine Player, 2019, of East Hampton, who majors in health sciences.
Emily Worman, 2020, of East Hampton, who majors in psychology.
Psi Chi is the international honor society for the field of psychology. Eastern students who are inducted must attain a 3.5 GPA in psychology and a 3.0 GPA overall.
