Walk supports Huntington’s research Church holding annual tag sale
KILLINGWORTH — Volunteers are raising awareness of Huntington’s Disease, a devastating genetic neurological disease through their community Team Hope Walk on Sunday, May 20 in Killingworth. Fox 61 news anchor Tim Lammers is this year’s honorary chairman.
To celebrate Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month at the 12th Annual Team Hope Walk will be held at Chatfield Hollow State Park at the shelter near the entrance on Route 80. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk kickoff begins at 10 a.m.. The 1-1/2 mile walk/run/ ride is a fun, family-friendly event that includes food, raffle/auction items, music and children’s activities (face painting, balloon animals and magic). Dogs are welcome. This park is a designated trout park so if you have a license bring your fishing pole. $25 minimum donation to participate.
The Team Hope Walk program is HDSA’s largest grassroots event, being held on over 100 cities across the country and has raised nearly $14 million for HD since its inception in 2007. Register for Cap and Gown 5K Run/Walk
MIDDLETOWN — The Middlesex Community College Foundation invites local runners to participate in the 15th Annual Cap and Gown 5K Run/Walk to be held on Friday, May 11 at MxCC Middletown campus on 100 Training Hill Road. Race-day registration begins at 4:30 p.m., with a free Kids Fun Run starting at 5:30 p.m. The USATF certified 5K will begin at 6 p.m.
Register now at http:// mxcc.edu/5k/. Enter before April 15 to qualify for the early-bird raffle. Enter by May 8 and pay only $20. After May 9 through race day, the entry fee will be $25. MxCC student fee is $15. Kids Run is free. Prizes will be awarded to overall champions (men and women), alumni, students, faculty/staff winners (men and women), and the top three men and women in each age division of the 5K. The awards ceremony will be held at 6:45 p.m.
The scenic 5K run/walk (3.1 miles) follows along beautiful treelined roads along the reservoirs behind the Middletown campus. Free tank tops will be given to the first 100 registrants. The 5K race is chip-timed by Empire Timing Co. Cap and gown costumes are welcome with prizes for the best ones.

Downtown Flag sponsors wanted
MIDDLETOWN — Middletown is planning its annual display of patriotism and support for military families downtown.
American flags are available to downtown businesses for a minimum donation of $25 per flag. These flags are a perfect way to show your support and to prepare for Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day.

EAST HADDAM — First Church of Christ, Congregational, 499 Town Street (Route 151) East Haddam, will hold its annual tag sale and Family Fun Day on Saturday May 19, 8 a.m. -2 p.m. Shoppers can search for tag sale treasures, enjoy bake sale items and a hot dog or hamburger for lunch, and enter the silent auction.
Donations of gently used items (no electronic or exercise equipment — can be dropped off on Saturday May 5 and Saturday, May 12, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

‘Beauty and the Beast’ auditions set
Artful Living announces auditions for its 2018 summer musical, “Beauty and the Beast.” No appointments are needed. Auditions for children, ages 8-13, will be held May 14-15, 6-7 p.m. Auditions for young adults and adults, age 14 and up, follow from 7-9 p.m. Auditions will be held at the Wagner Theater in HK Middle School (451 Route 81 Killingworth).
The show will be performed on July 27-29.
Adults prepare 16 measures from the show or a genre appropriate to this musical. Bring marked sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.
Children will sing in small groups; there is no need for prepared song unless auditioning.

Gazebo concert lineup announced
EAST HAMPTON — The Joseph N. Goff House board of directors announce the band lineup for the 19th annual Gazebo Concert Series. The concerts are held on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in the East Hampton Village Center at the Center School Gazebo.
June 28 will feature Four Barrel Billy performing rockabilly, surf, old school 50s rock ’n‘ roll, 60's pop, swing and honkytonk.
July 5: East Hampton High School Jazz Band performing classic jazz standards.
July 19: The Modern Riffs performing a combination of jazz, classic rock and swing.
July 26: The Dizzy River Band performing an eclectic mix of original music.
Aug. 2: Seat of Our Pants performing their own eclectic style of folksy music.
Aug. 9: Victor Cowles performing classic hits from different eras.
Listeners are welcome to bring seating and a picnic. Dogs and children welcome. Local Cub Scouts will be on hand to sell snacks and refreshments.
