UConn AD to speak at breakfast
Real estate form to follow event
MIDDLETOWN — David Benedict, athletic director at UConn, will be the guest speaker at the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce member breakfast meeting Monday.
This event will be held at the Red Lion Hotel in Cromwell, with networking at 7 a.m., a breakfast buffet at 7:30 a.m., and the program running from 8 to 9 a.m.
Immediately following the event, the Hartford Chapter of the Real Estate Finance Association will bring together Connecticut commercial real estate professionals for an open forum, according to a press release. The event will focus on CRE Investment from apartment, retail, office and Industrial sectors, local CRE projects/developments, current market conditions and expectations for the future.
Featured speakers will include several REFA members, including Mike Riccio of CBRE Capital Markets, Mark Duclos of Sentry, Pat Mulready of CBRE and Marty Kenny of Lexington Partners. The event will be moderated by REFA members Derek Ezovski, President of Outsource Risk Management Solutions; and Paul LaMonica, SVP of Farmington Bank. Benedict became director of athletics at UConn in March 2016.
UConn enjoyed a successful year in 2016-17 under Benedict’s leadership as both the women’s basketball and field hockey teams advanced to NCAA Final Four competition, while the women’s soccer team also played in the NCAA tournament, according to Chamber President Larry McHugh.
Student-athletes had success in the classroom, with 65 percent earning a GPA of 3.0 or better in the spring semester and 59 percent
doing so in the fall semester. The average cumulative GPA for Husky student-athletes at the end of the 2016-17 academic year was 3.075, the release continued.
