Team Hope Walk benefit set for Sunday through Killingworth
KILLINGWORTH — Volunteers are raising awareness of Huntington’s Disease, a genetic neurological disease, through the Team Hope Walk on Sunday in Killingworth. Fox 61 news anchor Tim Lammers is this year’s honorary chairman.
The 12th annual walk, which coincides with Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month, will be held at Chatfield Hollow State Park at the shelter near the entrance on Route 80. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 10 a.m. The 1-1/2 mile walk/run/ride is a fun, familyfriendly event that includes food, raffle and auction items, music, and children’s activities such as face painting, balloon animals and magic. Dogs are welcome. This park is a designated trout park, so if you have a license bring your fishing pole. $25 minimum donation to participate.
The Team Hope Walk is the Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s largest grassroots event, being held in over 100 cities across the country and raising nearly $14 million since its inception in 2007. Teva Pharmaceuticals is the national sponsor for the walk and other HDSA initiatives.
