Summer arts festival gallery show to open
ESSEX — Spectrum Gallery and Store of Centerbrook presents the Summer Arts Festival Gallery Show, a six-week exhibit trunning from May 25 to July 8, of select works by artists participating in the Summer Arts and Crafts Festival on the Essex Connecticut Town Green.
A mixture of painting — both representational and abstract — as well as mixed media and photography is included. There are multiple artists presenting for the first time at Spectrum, as well as several who have presented in exhibits since the Gallery’s inception in the spring of 2014. Opening reception for the show is Friday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Gallery, 61 Main St. Centerbrook.
The Spectrum Group show is a concurrent exhibition by artists participating in the Arts Center Killingworth’s Annual Summer Arts Festival on June 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and June 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Located on the Town Green of Essex, a picturesque locale which offers quaint New England charm, vibrant art scene, fine restaurants and charming marina. Entrance to the Summer Arts Festival and Gallery Group Show is free.
Spectrum Gallery, an expansion of the nonprofit Arts Center Killingworth, showcases regional and national artists and artisans, both emerging and established. In addition to painting, sculpture and photography, the gallery includes a store which offers fine crafts in diverse mediums such as fabric, glass, ceramics, paper, pottery, jewelry, wood and more. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
