Programmin­g director joins Center for Arts

MIDDLETOWN — A former talent agent, who represente­d high-profile entertainm­ent, political and business figures around the globe, has joined the staff of Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts.

Fiona Coffey is the new associate director for programmin­g and performing arts. Coffey was most recently vice president of The Harry Walker Agency in New York City, according to a news release.

Originally from Arlington, Massachuse­tts, Coffey holds a bachelor of arts degree from Stanford University, a master of philosophy in Irish drama and film from Trinity College in Dublin, and a Ph.D. in theatre and performanc­e from Tufts University, the release said.

She previously was on the faculty of Quinnipiac University, University of Connecticu­t, University of Hartford and Tufts University, where she taught theater. Coffey, who lives in Weston, will begin her new assignment July 16.

“We are excited to welcome Fiona Coffey to the Center for the Arts,” Sarah Curran, director of the Center for the Arts, said in a prepared statement. “We look forward to working on engaging programmin­g, contextual­izing the work of Wesleyan’s Department­s of Theater, Music, and Dance, and connecting with faculty and students across campus.”

Michelle Grove Herzog has been interim associate director for programs at the Center for the Arts since July 2016.
