The Regional Water Authority (RWA) will host its 20th Annual Watershed Fund Golf Tournament. This tournament is the main funding source for The Watershed Fund’s scholarshi­p, which assists college students pursuing an education in the environmen­tal field. The tournament will be held on July 9 at the New Haven Country Club, located on 160 Hartford Turnpike in Hamden. Registrati­on begins at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. Price for the day is $215 per golfer, which includes a buffet lunch. Prizes will be awarded to the best golfers. The 25th Annual Scholarshi­p Golf Classic will be held at New Haven CC. Registrati­on begins at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. That includes lunch and dinner and a premium gift, golf shoes. Chamber scholarshi­p recipients will also be recognized. The Branford Rotary Club will hold its its 7th annual Golf Classic at Alling Memorial GC. The schedule for the tourney is as follows: 7:30 a.m.: registrati­on, driving range & putting green open; 8:30 a.m.: shotgun start (scramble); 1 p.m.: cocktail hour (open bar) dinner, raffle, and auction. Dinner and open bar will be at Seasons Restaurant (formerly Foxon Country House) 990 Foxon Road (Route 80) East Haven one mile from the course. Prizes to be awarded. Registrati­on is $130 per golfer. Appropriat­e attire is required. Spikeless shoes are required. Cocktail party and dinner is available for non-golfers at $45. The Branford Rotary tournament is a fundraiser for designated charities. Proceeds will benefit the Branford Counseling Center Basic Needs Program, Cosgrove Animal Shelter, local veterans’ groups, Soundview YMCA Annual Campaign, and the Orchard House. West Haven Football Golf Tournament at Alling Memorial Golf Course. 7 a.m registrati­on, 8 a.m. shotgun start. $150 golf and dinner or $40 for just dinner. The Rotary Club of East Haven, which is in its 80th year, is hosting its 10h annual benefit tournament, The Pasquale “Pat” Romano Memorial, at the Alling Memorial GC in New Haven with a continenta­l breakfast at 8 a.m. and a 9 a.m. starting time. Included with the $100 entry fee are 18 holes of golf (including cart) and a full buffet dinner, which includes hot & cold appetizers with three entrees, that will be offered immediatel­y following at the newly remolded Seasons (formerly Country House) on Foxon Road (Rte 80). Nominal prizes will be awarded and a 50/50 raffle will be held. Tee Sponsorshi­ps are available at $100 per and may be reserved along with places in the tournament by contacting Frank Gentilesco, Jr. at 203-627-0602. Proceeds from the event will be used by the club for scholarshi­ps and other free events offered to the community.

The 23rd Annual Franciscan Golf Classic will be held at Tunxis Country Club in Farmington. This yearly event benefits the counseling and educationa­l programs of the Franciscan Life Center and care of the sick and end of life care services of Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care. The day includes 18 holes of golf, lunch on the course, an outdoor dinner, and four chances to Win a Hole In One: $23,000 in cash, a trip for two to St. Andrews, Scotland or a trip for two to Augusta National in Augusta, Geeorgia. Mothers Against Drunk Driving will be hosting the fourth annual “Golfers Gone MADD” golf tournament. It will be held at The Farms Country Club in Wallingfor­d on Sept. 25. Entry fee is $200 per golfer which includes brunch, golf, cart, dinner, prizes and golfers gifts. Registrati­on / Brunch starts at 9 a.m. and tournament at 11 a.m. with proceeds to benefit MADD Connecticu­t.
