‘The Little Mermaid’ opens July 12
CROMWELL — Mark your calendars: a family friendly show you won’t want to miss this summer! The Cromwell Community Theater will present Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” with performances July 12-14 at Cromwell High School.
Thursday and Friday performances will be at 7 p.m., and Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale at www.ShowTix4U.com General admission is $18; students and seniors are $15.
The talented cast of approximately 30 student and adult performers are from Cromwell and surrounding towns. The lead role of Ariel is played by New Britain resident Leah Gaffney, who will be a junior at New Britain High School. Her most recent roles have been Wednesday Addams in “The Addams Family” (NBHS), Susie Ward in “Babes in Arms” (PCSYT), and Flounder in “The Little Mermaid” (NBHS). She has been taking voice lessons for almost five years and has been dancing her whole life. Gaffney is very excited to take on this role after previously being in the show at her high school.
This classic Disney title contains all of the songs from the Academy Awardwinning animated feature film as well as new songs from the Broadway show. “The Little Mermaid” takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above.
