A peaceful seaside property
Branford home offers views of the Thimble Islands
If a peaceful seaside location is what you are seeking, look no further than 6 Second Avenue. This charming home is located one house away from Long Island Sound in the heart of Branford’s Hotchkiss Grove neighborhood and boasts spectacular water views from most rooms.
During a recent tour of the residence, the home’s present owner Lou Grenon reflected on the many amenities that make the property unique. Grenon explained that its most notable feature is the sense of tranquility that the surrounding environment provides.
“Waking in the morning and looking out the master bedroom windows at the water and the Thimble Islands is a beautiful and tranquil way to start the day,” Grenon remarked.
The residence was originally constructed in 1933 and has been in the Grenon family for over 65 years. The home has provided a cherished place for relatives and friends to gather throughout the years.
“The sense of community makes 6 Second Avenue a very special place to live,” Grenon explained. “This is not unique to this property; once you are here, you don’t ever want to leave this beach community.”
According to the property’s listing agent Marcia Delfini, the spacious four-bedroom home serves as an ideal setting for either a year round residence or a weekend retreat.
Grenon echoed Delfini’s sentiments, explaining that the home has been appreciated by his family as a place to enjoy a leisurely beachside lifestyle during all seasons.
“The unique ability to walk 100 feet out your front door and go for a quick swim or spend a day at the beach is a dream come true,” Grenon said. “Not to mention, the ability of looking at your own boat moored in the sound, beckoning you to spend a day on the water.”
The home’s additional perks
include an open floor plan, a cozy wood-burning fireplace and a beautiful sunroom with direct water views.
“Having lunch or dinner in the sunroom, watching the beach goers and looking at the water is very special,” Grenon commented.
The house also offers a generously sized walk-out basement. This space features a full bathroom with a shower, providing a convenient place to rinse off after returning from a carefree day at the beach.
Upon entering the private backyard, an oversized covered patio furnished with all-weather Lane Venture furniture awaits. The rear yard offers privacy and plenty of space for outdoor entertaining.
There is also a generator that can provide almost full house power in the event of a power failure. Meanwhile, a one-car under house garage and ample parking provide ease of living.
Last but certainly not least, there is also a private association beach in the immediate vicinity. The annual association fee is based on property assessment, according to Delfini, and was $396 for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Listing Agent:
