A smooth career change
Prior to entering the real estate profession in 1998, Aileen DeFeo worked in the mortgage industry for 15 years. Her past experience and proven record of success served to build a solid foundation for her success as a Realtor.
“My expertise in sales and management was a smooth transition into real estate,” DeFeo remarked. “Experience and partnering with a brand like Coldwell Banker gives me what I need to continue to be successful.”
DeFeo’s experience in lending provided her with the opportunity to work directly with buyers, sellers, agents, attorneys and appraisers. Additionally, the fast-paced environment exposed her to virtually every aspect of the real estate industry.
DeFeo eventually decided to affiliate with Coldwell Banker and presently serves as Vice President of Sales and Brokerage Manager of the company’s Orange and Woodbridge offices.
In this position, she trains and mentors other Realtors and plays a key role in the legal and community involvement aspects of the business.
“I’m passionate about what I do as a Realtor and sales manager,” DeFeo commented. “If you have a real estate need or just a question that needs to be answered, that’s what I’m here for, don’t hesitate to call.”
DeFeo explained that the most rewarding aspect of her position is the opportunity to serve the people that she works with. She particularly enjoys learning about her clients in order to anticipate their needs and facilitate a smooth transaction.
“I love the people I work with, the company I work for and the communities I serve,” she said. “Setting myself apart is a direct result of exceeding a client’s expectations before, during and after a housing transaction.”
DeFeo also emphasized the importance of continuing education in the ever-changing real estate market. Topics such as home inspections, mortgage rates, tax benefits, technology and social media are all areas that agents must educate themselves on a regular basis.
“Education is key when it comes to real estate,” she explained. “My company is sending out information on a regular basis to make sure we have all the tools necessary that impact our role as Realtors.”
