CFA Society sponsors annual 5K
HARTFORD — The CFA Society Hartford Corporate 5K is set to take place on Thursday, Aug. 2 at Bushnell Park. The race will commence at 6:30 pm in scenic Bushnell Park near the Arch where race participants will be guided on a flat course, one that is ideal for both runners and walkers, and pass by the State Capitol and other historic buildings within the city.
This will be the fourth consecutive year that CFA Society Hartford will serve as the title sponsor of the event. The 5K will benefit The Connection, a local organization that helps people build safe, healthy, caring communities by inspiring them to reach their full potential as productive and valued citizens. Last year, the race generated more than $15,000 for the organization. For over 45 years, The Connection has stood as one of the state’s leading private, nonprofit human service and community development agencies.
Participants of all ages will have a chance to compete in the race by registering as either an individual or a team. Teams must consist of at least three members. Over 1,000 runners and 100 corporate teams are expected to run on August 2nd. The event is organized by JB Sports, an event management company that organizes some of New England’s top running events, fitness expos and health walks.
Awards will be given to the top three teams in each of these categories, as well as distributed for the fastest CEO/President, top fundraising team, top fundraising individual and the largest team to participate. Individuals who raise over $100 will earn free entry into the event.
Following the completion of the race, participants will be treated to a cookout with live music, beverages and official awards ceremony. Hog River Brewery will be offering free beer samples at Bushnell Park and will host runners and walkers at their brewery for a post-race party at their brewery located at 1429 Park Street in Hartford. Attendees ages 21 and over can simply display their bib at the Brewing Company for 20 percent off their tab for the evening.
There are still opportunities to donate and fundraise towards the race. To view available sponsorship opportunities, visit http:// www.jbsports.com/wp-content/uploads/Corporate-5K-SponsorInfo.pdf, or contact John Bysiewicz at john@jbsports.com.
